Every student has to complete an internship according to the Regulations for Courses and Examinations of IPM. The details of the internship are laid down in the guidelines for internship which can be downloaded here.

After the internship the student has to hand in a certificate of the company to the internship office (Praktikantenamt). The certificate needs to contain the intern’s name, the duration of the internship and a short, but meaningful description of the tasks performed during the internship. The student additionally has to communicate his matriculation number and his course of studies.

Is it possible to suspend during the internship?

Suspension during internships is possible according to the “Guidelines for suspension from study at the Friedrich-Alexander University” §5. The application has to be handed in two months after the start of the lectures to the University Registrar’s Office (Studentenkanzlei). If the internship is obligatory, the student has to hand in a copy of the contract of employment and a confirmation of the internship office. If the internship is voluntary, in addition to the contract of employment the internship needs to be approved by a spokesperson of the curriculum committee (Studienkommision).
